Prema.
Between 1978 and 1988 I stopped producing art, while
I set up and ran an arts centre called Prema, inspired by the teachings
of Satya Sai Baba. Prema was founded as a non-profit charity with
the purpose of providiing a centre of excellence for the production,
presentation and teaching of the arts.
Having raised the capital for the purchase and conversion
of a beautiful Georgian Baptist church, we presented a very exciting
and diverse program of fine and applied arts, experimental theatre,
contempary dance, every form of music and a pioneering education
program.
Mixing the established with the cutting edge (for
example Prema was one of the first platfroms for world music) and
with a commitment to accessability and affordability, Prema established
a reputation as the leading rural arts centre in the U.K.
